A home made for remembering
Escaping London’s gray skies, this family moved to Florida to chase the sunshine. Here, life unfolds outdoors. Meals linger, laughter carries, stillness settles. A warm breeze perfumed with fragrant blooms deepens the sensory experience. And at the pool’s edge, a Bali bed invites moments of meditation. This is a home made for remembering—an architecture of presence, joy and connection.

Inspired by the ancient Roman impluvium used to collect rainwater, we incorporated one in this new-construction vacation retreat, marking its central axis while anchoring a cast-iron sculpture of a human figure. This was the first time we used our custom jalousies for natural ventilation—an important detail, as over half the under-roof space is not air-conditioned. The living room, dining room, pavilion and family room are all open-air, and the hallways and stairways appear only outside. A service kitchen and butler’s pantry keep messier moments tucked away, so the gallery-like kitchen could be saved for memory-making.
