Pastoral Interlude

A choreography of landscape and lived moments
A layered procession from auto court to entry court, then loggias and porches, creates a gentle shift from the urban rhythm of Windsor to the pastoral hush of lake and fairway. Grounded in classical courtyard principles and distilled through a modern lens, the home unfolds in calibrated moments: architectural screw pine with spiraling fronds and spiked fruit, a custom fire pit on axis with the entry and living room, and pleached tree clusters standing sentinel just beyond the pool’s limestone edge. The landscape reinforces the classical progression. The further one moves from the house, the looser the plantings become. Minimalist then deconstructed. Native and organic. As if the garden itself exhales.

This primary residence began with a shared desire: to create a Zen-inspired space that felt comfortable and reflective of its owners. Filled with natural light, the home presents a contemporary refuge that radiates warmth and calm. An open yet intimate floor plan invites living, dining, and kitchen spaces to flow together, with interior shoji-like panels that slide to close for privacy or open to gather. Dark architectural elements ground cerused oak and creamy shades of white, echoed in the furnishings, and an oak ceiling softens sound and mood alike. A sculptural staircase frames garden and golf views through open risers. And in the kitchen, a monolithic island takes center stage, while the butler’s pantry waits in the wings, ready to support the performance.
